Dakota Mamola - new challenge!
YMS: Dako, why will you take part in Cup of Nations?
Dakota: Well for many reasons, but mostly because I really want to ride my R6 Yamaha bike. When my team offered me to participate in the Cup of Nations I said yes because I really need to test more and so we will use this weekend as a good test weekend for me and my mechanics. But also because I am not competing in the European Stock in Russia(as there is no race for us) and because its a home race for our Russian team it will be a great honor.
YMS: What do you think about this championship?
Dakota:I think that its a great learning championship. And what is cool about it is that any one can race in it and we get people from all over the world including Russians that can ride in this class to have fun. I even think they should make more championships like this which can bring young and good riders who don't have enough money to race in full other championships to prove to other teams their real talent.
YMS: Do you like the Moscow Raceway track?
Dakota: Oh I love it! I raced there last year and I am looking forward to getting back on it next weekend. What's great is its characteristics including fast and slow corners with up hills and down hills. What I love best about this track is the blind braking corner in turn 7 (the fast left).
YMS: What the goal for russian round?
Dakota: My goal like in every single race is to win of course, but with a podium I will be happy for myself and as well for the team.
YMS: Will be Randy with you this race and how he helps you during competitions?
Dakota: No, he will be in the Laguna Seca GP. His home race track. But he is always a big help for me to getting myself strong mentally especially when I do mistakes because he knows what he is talking about as he has lived all this already in the past. He also helps me while being at the track to calm my nerves down a little but also telling where and how I can improve around the racetrack but also outside the track.
YMS: What about your experience in Moscow? Do you like Russia?
Dakota: I like how unique russia is and the people. They are wonderful people and so nice. Especially the girls haha. But I got the chance to visit many things in russia and what amazed me the most was the traffic hahaha so much traffic and fast drivers I guess that's where Vladimir (*Vladimir Leonov) gets his skills from, driving on the crazy road! Also I got to see the Klemlin which also caught my eye! So beautiful with all the gold!
