The new land at the end of the season
SUPERSPORT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
JEREZ, SPAIN
13 stage, 18 – 20 October 2013
Tuesday, 15 October
Eni FIM World Superbike/Supersport is going to the Jerez de la Frontera (Spain). Jerez is a small town kown for the cherry wine and Moto racing. The Yakhnich Motorsport riders Sam Lowes goes to Spain in the status of the World Champion which he got ahead the time in Magny-Cours. The Russian team hopes to see both her riders on the podium.
Circuito de Jerez become known for MotoGP races carrying out there for more than two decades but there was only one race of the World Superbike in 1990. There was the first stage of the Superbike and the winner was Raymond Roche.
The circuit in Jerez is “stop-n-go” track because of lots short straights connecting with multidirectional curves including narrow and steep. The ratio between straights and turns is 3 to 1: total length of the track is 4423 meters, straights – 3038 meters, the length of curves – 1385. The start straight is 600 meters and finishes with steep right turn. The outcome of many races are decided in the last turn which is very narrow. That’s why it is very important to find the balance in the bike’s settings to ensure stable passing fast zones and hard brakings.
Vladimir Leonov and Sam Lowes are ready to the final stage. Leonov knows this track very well as he took part in Grand Prix in GP250 and Moto2 classes here. Also the team Yakhnich Motorsport held in Spain two test series in November 2013 and before the stage in Australia at the end of January 2013. Here was found bases settings for both bikes. Sam Lowes showed time in TOP-8 along with 1000 cc bikes.
Dakota Mamola continues to develop world tracks on his Yamaha R6 with the Russian team. Dako knows the Jerez circuit very well and expects to show good results from Friday. In Magny-Cours he had already shown his readiness to fight for positions in the leading group.
Sam Lowes: "Mixed emotions going into last race of season. Am very excited as love the circuit and confident of great result. But also little sad as has been great season and been amazing to be in this team so mixed emotions but in end is amazing to be going there as THE NEW WORLD CHAMPION!!!!!”
Vladimir Leonov: “I like this track. I would like to finish this season in dry and sunny conditions as during this season the weather was not very good. Looking forward to return to work with my team and plane to get the podium!"
