Castelletto di Branduzzo (Final)

May 15-16, 2009

Press release

On May 14 Yulia Kondratjeva from Moscow and Anastasia Alekseeva from St.-Petersburg – the finalists of the Junior Team Contest – went to Italy to take part in the final competition of the Contest.

It was a two-day competition which took place on the Italian track Castello di Branduzzo. The girls rode Yamaha R125.

On the first day the head coach Claudio Corsetti got acquaintedwith thecontestants and tested them in order to evaluate their riding skills, control and sense of the bike.

In the afternoon in spite of the rainy weather Claudio and the participants were on the track. The bikes were provided with rain tyres. The main aim of the first day was to examine the track and get accustomed to the bike. By that time our contestants had got experience in riding only road bikes and according to the girls’ comments it took some time to get used to the sport seat.

The heavy rain prevented the participants from spending more time on the track and testing, or better to say teaching, process was continued in the camp where Claudio explained the main principles of trajectories and fundamentals of working with a bike.

After short day-time trainings the contestants were not shy to ask the coach some questions.

At that weekend the track Castelletto di Branduzzo hosted the scooter race (Malossi and Yamaha 125). Boys and girls of the same age with Nasja and Yulia (14-16 years old) gave them a master class. About 25 participants (there were 4 girls among them) rode furiously overtaking each other. They fell, rose and joined in the race again. One of the participants – Rebecca – took the 9th position in the qualification and in the main race she managed to take the honorary fifth place!

On the second day having got the head coach’s task Yulia and Nastja continued their practice guided by instructors of Scuola Motociclistica Italiana. From lap to lap the girls accelerated. It was noticeable how easily the girls took the information in and coped with Claudio Corsetti’s tasks.

Each of the finalists showed her sport character, strong will and high potential to be a real racer and a team member of Yakhnich Motorsport.

Claudio Corsetti: “I am very satisfied with this two-day work with the finalists Yulia and Nastja. The girls differ in character but it goes without saying they are both very talented. It is difficult to make a choice, so I need a time-out.”

Nataliya Lubimova: “I worried about the girls, but always wondered at their ability to grasp the material and immediately try to apply it practically on the track. I am very happy for Nastja and Yulia as they had a chance to find themselves in the real world of racing among their peers and test their racing skills on a real track!”
