FIM Commissioners conducted seminars for Russian marshals 

In the first half of March on invitation of “Yakhnich Motorsport” some representatives of FIM  (Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme) came to Moscow and together with MFR representatives conducted international seminars, the aim of which was training of  marshals, stewards and representatives of the racing directorate engaged into motor-racing competitions operating. The training program consisted of two segments: the first seminar for marshals was conducted by Tomas Zettner, the second - for the racing directorate and officials was conducted by Rezso Bulcsu and Paul Duparc.  

One of the representatives of the first in history WSBK Russian stage, which holding is planned for 26 August 2012 at the track Moscow Raceway, shared his impressions: “In short – it was great! The FIM representatives, who came to conduct the seminar, are real professionals who have been working in the sphere of auto-motorsport for many years and have got extremely rich experience in organization of motorsport events in different countries of the world. In the course of the seminar they were giving a great number of examples from their personal experience. These people know precisely what must be done and what mustn’t be done in order to avoid accidents. The principal idea, which they repeated now and then: “it is very important for the personnel working at such a prestigious event as WSBK to have high level qualification, as safety of every participant of the event, including racers, referees and audience, is above all”.

The lasting impression on the marshals was produced by Tomas Zettner, and not only with his knowledge and experience but also with his perfect sense of humor. Once, at school (he is Hungarian like Bulcsu) he studied Russian. Though it was long ago (he is 56 now) during his stay in Moscow he tried to speak Russian from time to time and did it very well (he was even able to recite the beginning of “A tale of tsar Saltan”).

At the end of the seminar the lectors seemed quite satisfied with the test results, besides that they were much surprised at the qualification level of the audience. Russian motorsport (particularly road-racing) had been “Greek” to them – they had had no notion about it because it hadn’t existed at all according to their opinion because of absence of high level tracks suitable for holding competitions. Besides that, they were pleased to know that the overwhelming majority of the audience speaks English. Tomas Zettner and Rezso Bulcsu are planning to come in the capacity of FIM commissioners to the Russian stage of WSBK.
