Today was the first and only qualification in the Supersport class. According to the new rules of the championship Supersport riders have only one attempt to take their starting positions. During Friday and Saturday there are three practices when riders and their staff try to find settings and remove malfunctions.
Today during the morning practice Leonov’s staff was pretty nervous. Repeatedly came in box Vladimir brought new datas that he could show only 17th result. After some hours with mechanics during the qualification Leonov could caught back almost 10 positions. Tomorrow he’ll start from the third line being close on the heels of Florian Marino, Michael Vd Mark and Kenan Sofuoglu.
Jules Cluzel: “I’m disappointed. We’ve problems with transmission. During the morning free practice we also had problems with brakes but could find the solution. On the last fast lap the transmission was blocked and I couldn’t achieve my goal and took the pole. It’s good to have a night in reserve and morning warm-up for removing malfunctions and the final checking before the race”.
Vladimir Leonov:“It’s difficult to set up the bike. We had a progress but it’s not enough for starting from the first row. We’ve managed with electronics but still have disbalance with suspension. Sorely lacking in grip in big slope, always had to catch “tail”. In the morning we’ll try something for improving during the race”.
