The 5th pole position in this season for Yakhnich Motorsport

SUPERSPORT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Portimao, Portugal

6 stage, 7-9 June 2013

Saturday, 8 June

Since the beginning of the season 2013 the Yakhnich Motorsport team has received the fifth pole position as Sam Lowes got the first place after the second qualification in Portimao today. Vladimir Leonov also made a successful breakthrough.

As expected, Leonov's potential in Partimao is the place in TOP-10. During the second session Vladimir showed the 8th result with the time 1’47 inside the lap each pit out. In the end of the session he got 1’46”752. Sam Lowes made the series of laps with stable time 1'46 and returned in the garage with the information that there was a noise in the engine. The team decided to change the engine for the 2 qualification.

Experiments with bikes setting lasted all 45 min qualification, but decisions which were taken in the morning, showed results. Leonov finished his first session on the 8th position but when he returned in the box to change second soft tyres, there was heavy traffic on the track. So Vladimir couldn’t cut trough it and as a result the 12th position on the start.

Sam Lowes made one more incredible breakthrough – all qualification he rode on the standard tyres. His time during the long session was 1'45, but after changing tyres on the race one he set the successful lap-time - 1’44”804. Tomorrow Kenan Sofuoglu will start from the second place.

Sam Lowes: «The first half of the qualification we tested tyres to be sure that our settings are correct, than we changed tyres for making fast lap. This pole we got without using soft tyres!»
