Nürburgring – the most important victory of the season

SUPERSPORT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Nürburg, Germany

10 stage, 30 August – 1 September 2013

Sunday, 1 september

Sam Lowes triumphed the race in the Nürburgring and made a decisive step to become the champion this season.

Both riders of the Russian team Yakhnich Motorsport started from the TOP positions. Lowes had pole-position and Leonov – the 4th. However, starting from the second and third places the Kawasaki teammates could take more advantageous positions in the first turn of the ring. It took two laps for Sam to deal with Sofuoglu whereas Leonov strove for Foret.

Returning leadership, Sam rushed to the finish. To keep the speed of the russian Yamaha YZF-R6, Kenan had to go on the extreme. On the 10 lap on the second turn the current champion made a mistake and couldn’t continue the race. Lowes finished without any hindrances increasing advantage in standing of the World Supersport on 54 points.

Todays race could bring one more victory to the team Yakhnich Motorsport but technical problems with the Lenov's bike on the 15th lap didn't let Vladimir to get on the podium. Vladimir struggled on the third position but he had to return to the garage.

However, the audience had the race full of emitions as Kev Coghlan (the rider of the russin team DMC-Lorenzini) struggled till the end with Lorenzo Zanetti from the Pata Honda team and got his first podium in this season. Our congratulations!

Sam Lowes: «I knew that in the dcisive moment Kenan would do a mistake if I pressed him down. Now I calm over. I’m glad that could win race as this track likes Sofuoglu.”

Vladimir Leonov: “I’m very upset! Today I could be on the podium because I did a lot for it. Despite of this we showed good result and pace.”

In theory, the struggle for the champion title can finish on the next stage in Turkey on the Intercity Instanbul Park.
