Second qualification day of the 12th stage of the World Supersport championship was held in a tense mode for all paddock. The weather changed to fast. It was raining but than the sun was shining. So Sam Lowes and Vladimir Leonov couldn't show the expected results. Also the qualification was stoped because of Kenan Sofuoglu serious crash.
Quick change of the temperature and asphalt conditions influenced on bikes settings.
The team decided to change setting in Leonov’s bike. Leonov’s best lap in this qualification was 1'42”964. He planed to grow his pace but the race was stoped with the red flag. So Vladimir Leonov got 11th place.
Vladimir Leonov: “I’m not quite happy with this session. In my plan was to grow the pace and made few fast laps to climb up. Disappointed with the red flag. We have changed suspension’s settings and the chassis geometry but bike became more hard. The weather changings made imbalance. But in the end I started to feel my bike as usual”.
In the 3rd turn Kenan Sofuoglu left the track. He showed brilliant pace and dominated above all rivals. But he didn’t take into the account the asphalt conditions. He went to the medical center but according the latest information he was not seriously injured and ready for tomorrow.
Sam Lowes didn’t get the pole-position but improve his result on 0.1 sec with the potential to remove one-tenth during warm-up if the asphalt is dry. So tomorrow he will start from the second place.
STK-600
Today we could see the real racing show during the race of the STK-600. Dakota Mamola got the 10th positions during the qualification and started the race with the struggle. The fight was between four riders including the leader Gauthier Duwelz. There were a lot of hard contacts. In the first lap Mulhauser and Tuuli run into boaders and left the track. Few laps later Dakota Mamola and Luca Vitali were in the same situation as the the Italian rider attacked to aggressively and practically lied on the bike of the Yakhnich Motorsport rider. Dako could safe his bike but Italian Suzuki went out. The directorate initiated the investigation of this accident and considered that it was mistake of the Italian rider.
There was cruel struggle for TOP-10 and Dakota were in this lust. Gourin, Clere, Duwelz and Morrentino contened this position. In the last lap Mamola proved that he should be in TOP-10. The race wan Alessandro Nocco who is challenger for the champion title of this season.
