The MFR Cup - Stage III, Superstock 600
The situation reoccurred. On Sunday morning at the medical examination the pilots were informed that the car-racers had spilt some oil on the track. The organizers decided to postpone the morning practice of STK 600 and STK 1000 till afternoon.
The motor-racers were lucky. The training races went off successfully and the start of STK 600 was appointed for 13:50.
24 pilots took place in the third competition of The RMF Cup. The first row of the start grid was occupied by the favorites: Vyacheslav Khodyrev (St. Petersburg), Alexander Duev (Moscow), Andrej Doronin (Mytischi), Oleg Kotelnikov (N.Novgorod). Those very pilots were the main contestants for the podium.
The pilots of the team”Yakhnich Motorsport” took the 9th position (Nataliya Lyubimova) and the 10th position (Nadia Yakhnich).
The girls say that the race was going to be interesting and tough. It goes without saying that there is hardly a man who would like to be inferior to a woman…
Nataliya Lyubimova showed a good start reaction and took the first turn sixth following Khodyrev, Doronin, Dujev, Kotelnikov and Kuralesov. Andrej Chepurko didn’t keep Nataliya waiting for his overtaking long. He showed 1:48.608 in the third lap already but a mistake made by him resulted in his fall.
All race long Nataliya was defending from Vladimir Nikolaev’s attacks. According to the pilot’s words it was difficult to overtake Nataliya. Vladimir put on the brake later but Nataliya was faster in the straights and every time the distance between the racers grew either shorter or longer. In the final lap of the race Nikolaev made a risky attempt to overtake Nataliya in a low chicane. Entering the turn at high speed just in front of Nataliya’s bike the sportsman was taken out from the track and got stuck in the sand but finally he managed to finish tenth.
Nataliya finished fifth but her result was nullified. After the race Natalya entered the garage having forgotten to undergo the check-up procedure.
Nadezda Yachnich had a very tense race. Nadia started well and entered the first turn seventh. Unfortunately her break away from the rivals was shortened because of two annoying mistakes. Denis Tishin from Moscow and Alexey Bitiev from Balashikha managed to catch up with Nadezda and overtake her in the last two laps. Nadia proved to be a real fighter and didn’t give in hoping to pass the rivals in the last turn to the finish stretch. But 50 meters from the finish flag the bike lost its clutch with the asphalt and went outside the track. This vexing fall didn’t let Nadezhda take the 8th position in the competition record.
The abbreviations DFN and DQ which say nothing to an ordinary spectator didn’t disappoint the sportswomen. The girls had one of the most interesting and richest in events racing weekends, having participated in two qualifications and two races (10+12 laps) which, of course, required more physical power as well as psychological strength!
On July 15 the team “Yakhnich Motorsport” is going to Italy to join in the second competition of The Women Italian Championship which takes place in Magione.
