At the big racing weekend both pilots of the team “Yakhnich Motorsport” Nadezda Yakhnich and Nataliya Lyubimova achieved excellent results in the second competition of The Women Italian Championship.
The beginning of that weekend couldn’t be worse because Nadia Yakhnich had come to Magione in a bad physical condition (she was ill and had high temperature).
In fact, on the first practice day (Friday) Nadia was able to ride only six laps in the morning (best time 1:23.9) and had to stay in the hotel all day unable to continue her practice.
Fortunately, Nataliya Lyubimova felt fit and recorded good time in the first free practice (1:21 in the morning and 1:22 in the unbearable heat in the afternoon)
On Saturday 18 racers took part in the first official qualification (the track was a bit wet because of the rain that had fallen in the morning). Nadia Yakhnich was still in bad health condition but she managed to ride 10 laps with her best time 1:24.202 (15th position) while Nataliya Lyubimova raced 12 laps having recorded very good time 1:20.713 which let her take the ninth position on the start grid.
In the afternoon in the second final qualification Nadia Yakhnich had to make a great effort in the beginning of the session and after six laps having overcome her physical state she recorded excellent time 1:22.667 which let her take the 17th position on the start grid.
Becoming stronger and stronger in the long qualification race (13 laps) Nataliya Lyubimova recorded 1:20.331 which let her find herself on the 10th position on the start grid, having left 5 sportswomen with 1:20 behind, and confirmed a good pace(many laps 1:20 – 1:21) for the race.
Giorgia Marolo (№99) failed in the qualification. She lacked only 0:00.043 to take part in the race.
The pole position was taken by Alessia Polita as usual with her time 1:13.180!
The race had two starts because of the red flag. In the first one both racers of Yakhnich Motorsport fought for getting higher positions in the first two turns. Lyubimova was the ninth and Yakhnich was the sixteenth.
After the second start the situation was the same: both racers were gradually accelerating in the course of the race. Lyubimova was easily riding at 1:19 – 1:20 with her best time 1:18.898 being 5 seconds inferior to the best lap of the race (Polita, 1:13.575). It let her fight for the ninth position. Unfortunately the race was stopped at the 14th lap exactly after Lyubimova had overtaken Giulia Nicoletti. The sportswomen hadn’t crossed the finish line by that time, so the results of the previous lap were taken into accounts. Finally Nataliya took the tenth place.
Nadezda Yakhnich raced under a little better but not ideal conditions. In any case Nadia did well at the start having overtaken Arianna Venturi (№7) at once. She was able to set good pace (1:21 for many laps) with the opportunity to defend herself from Venturi’s attacks fighting for the 15th position.
In the middle of the race Venturi managed to overtake Nadia but after Nadia had accelerated again and while Venturi was wasting time trying to overtake Rampolla (№29) she left Venturi behind demonstrating exceptional agility. Then, one lap later, she caught up with Vittoria (№29) and performed a beautiful overtaking in the first turn after “start-finish” to the deafening chanting from the stands. After that she gained one second advantage again. Keeping up her pace 1:21 she finished the race thirteenth under the red flags!
