David Leonov is 4.th in roockie standing

At his second overall experience in the Yamaha R125 Cup Trohpy, David Leonov is 4.th in roockie standing, incresing his performance respect the first race in Latina, last may.

The international circuit of Ortona was the stage of the 4.th race of 2011 Yamaha R125 Cup. David Leonov entered in this competition last may, doig is first overall experience on a circuit race in Latina. It was not easy for him to be inserted in a new world, competing against most experienced riders in the middle of the season, but David was abosolutely happy at the end of the first race about his results, about the new experience, and about... the new young italian friends...

Same nice atmosphere he founded in his second race (the 4.th of the series 2011), at the Ortona International Circuit. Just arrived, he was already disappeared from the team tend, to meet all his friends. Even if he does not speak italian, and the other do not speak russian, the friendship language works in any case.

Even into the circuit: from the first training session, Leonov founded good collaboration from other riders and from the Scuola Federale Corsetti instructor, to find as sun as possibile the good lines of the very difficoult Ortona Circuit (1,5 km). And even if he was the only rider without any previous experience in this circuit, he finalize to run in the official sessions in 1'20”, at only 6 second from the pole position, qualyfing his R125 in the 17.th position.

Lap by lap David is improving his “circuit riding style”, that is very different from the motocross style he is used... And among the others riders his surname is already choose: he is “Ben Spies” of the trophy!

Assisted by the Yakhnich Motorsport technician, made some good set up in the front suspensions for race 1, on sunday morning, and it worked: fighthing from the beginning, and re-starting after a red flag due an accident in the first lap, he closed race 1 with a best lap of 1'19” and in a good 14.th position.

In the second race of the day the beginning was even better, thank's a good start, but quite immediatly some sliding from the rear tyre convinced David to decrease his rithm, so he cannot improve his performacnes in lap timing, obtainign the same 14.th place of race 1.In any case, he can came back to Russia with the satisfaction of the 4.th place in the special statment of the trophy dedicated to the rookies: he was just back of Simone Gironi, Giovanni De Pera and Lorenzo Falchetti but  in front of Pietro Enzo Mangani e Federico Menozzi.
