Dakota Mamola joins Yakhnich Motorsport

Дакота Мамола

During the Imola CIV Test, held from March 16th to 18th, Dakota Mamola made his official entrance to the Yakhnich Motorsport Team.

Dakota will race the entire 2012 season on the premier Russian team Yakhnich Motorsport, riding the Super Stock 600 Yamaha R6 in the Italian Championship.

Dakota is the 17 year old son of  Grand Prix Motor Cycle Great Randy Mamola. Dakota has demonstrated great potential during the couple of winter tests. As you would expect, Dakota has been riding motorcycles since a very young age and Randy has made sure every advancement has been firm and Dakota has always responded well. Going to the Super StockYamaha R6 is a big step from the 2-Stroke 125’s he has raced in the past.

Dakota has adapted well to the Yakhnich Motorsport Team and the Yamaha R6.  His personality is well suited for such an International mix of Russian and Italian. Dakota already speaks 4 languages, what's 2 more!

His times at Imola improved everyday and he showed his potential as he learned a new track on the very fast Yamaha R6. Dakota worked his lap times from 2’00’’ laps on Friday to 1’56’‘s on Sunday. Working with his Engineers and listening to a few suggestions from his father, Dakota got the most out of this test and heads into the season with a great desire to make things happen for Yakhnich Motorsport.

Randy has been working with the other Team riders as well and will be a great rider coach as the season gets under way.

Here is an interesting bit of information, Randy came to Imola in 1977 with his father at 17 years old as he started his career in Europe.......Now Randy comes to Imola with Dakota at 17 years old in hopes of Dakota having a great start to the 2012 Season with Yakhnick Motorsports !
