1st qualifying, Friday

World Supersport Championship

Round 3

Assen 20-22 april 2012

Vladimir Leonov

After the winning week-end of imola CIV the 8.th april, the Yakhnich team moved to Assen with a ggod mood and good thecnical conditions to go on with his develpment program.

Step by step, we are increasing our performances and our experience in the world championship and things became better and better.

It is already clear in the paddock that Yakhnich Team is the number one among all Yamaha’s team actually involved in WSS. During free practice Leonov is stable and easy among the 7.th and 10.th position,  and the distance between our rider and the pole position is decreasing race by race. Onestly, now we are at not more than 1 second from the faster team/riders, and it is an incredible results in this first part of the season.

Here in Assen we a re developing new ideas about suspensions and setting, and the first free practice finished in 7.th position, with 1’41”7 was a good beginning of the week-end.

In the afternoon the qualifying was not lucky: Vladimir stopped in the first lap with a technical problem at the brake. he went back at box and it costs about ten minutes to make him able to came back. He became a little nervous because raining started to arrive, and all riders had already some good laps in dry conditions, while we was repairing the bike at box.

In any case he went out still in dry conditions and immediatly established himself around 10.th position. for the first two runs we used medium tyre, and. at 6 minutes to the end he went back box to put the soft one, already used by all other riders.

As he went out with the soft tyre to sign his fast lpa, rain started, and we couldn’t improve the 11.th position holded in that moment.

It is not exactly what we could have, but it is in any case the best qualifying ever had by Vladimir and Yakhnich Team in WSS...

Tomorrow rain is expected for second qualifying, so probably it will be difficult to do better for the starting grid.

But rain is expected even for the sunday’s race... and...
